Arora,
Hey Arora,
I’ve been getting into politics lately and I’m quite disturbed. It seems our govt. has been lying to us, taking away our civil liberties, stealing elections, and running this good old country into the gutter. Doesn’t seem to matter which of the two popular parties are in power, the shit stinks all the same. It’s not in the interests ($) of the mainstream media to report on any of this, either. What gives? And what can ordinary citizens like myself do about it, before we lose it completely?
Somewhere in America
Answer:
One of the finer questions I’ve been asked. You’re right; politics suck. If shit doesn’t change, it’ll suck forever. If you want things to get better, you’ll need money which means raising taxes. No matter whom you vote for you’re bound to get shafted in some aspect of your life.
But thats how all governments work. You have 2 people promising to better the lives of millions. That means that millions of people are expecting things to go their way. When’s the last time 10 people agreed on the same thing? We can’t even get the 10th Doctor to agree with the other 9 on the same toothpaste!
But the fact remains that millions of people died so that everyone that’s a citizen of the USA gets an equal chance at choosing who’s going to represent them so you would be a complete ignoramus to not vote.
That being said you need to look at the big picture. Which candidate will better your life as an individual? If you’re like the common American you’re mainly thinking about a. gas b. the war and c. the value of the dollar.
- Forget about oil prices, as long as Bush has ties in Iraq to thicken his wallet oil will never drop.
- The war, though is senseless and mostly a personal venture for the Republican family (so I believe), it will come to an end if change is made.
- Finally, our economy has seen its highs and lows and though its in the shitter now, its been worse - much worse. America is still one of the stronger powers in the world and will remain so for a while.
Take it back for a minute to 2004. The problem with the 2004 election was that Kerry didn’t give enough answers as to how he plans to change things. As much as we want to believe it was completely rigged, Kerry’s popularity really wasn’t that great. Though America wanted a new leader, they didn’t want to risk everything getting worse.
This election you have 2 options: Obama or McCain. In the simplest way of breaking it down, if you’d like to keep things the way they are, go with McCain. If you’d like some change, any change at all vote for Obama.
If you’ve been following politics lately be smart with the way you study. McCain is pretty much identical to Bush. So you should really be comparing Obama to Kerry. Both run for the Democrats and where Kerry failed, Obama should be able to succeed right? His plans on the war are aggressive without bloodshed. His plans on oil prices are to dig our own while finding an alternate means of energy which in turn will weaken our Eastern Allies (yea, unfortunately we are funding them). Let alone if you’ve followed Obama as an individual, he’s managed to fund all his campaigning through donations rather than borrowed money. That means he’s willing to get the job done by safe means, not like the average college kid that runs his credit card like a treadmill.
If you really want to take some initiative and help the country on your own right, start committing to the small things everyone takes for granted. Scratch the SUV and buy a compact. You’ll still be bawling I assure when the deuche in the hummer breaks down with no gas. Better our economy by saving. Invest scrap money you have in US Banks and help circulate money among your own people rather than on international trade. And by any means neccessery save energy. No ones telling you to live like a Geico Caveman but dude, do you really need to sleep with an AC on wrapped in a heavy ass blanket when we can just as easily leave a window open and use a bed sheet so that I wont wake up with the sniffles in the corner crack of the bed with no pillow because princess feels the need to take everything from me while I slee–!!….woa…sorry.
Anyway, don’t stop doing your research and relax bro. If things suck, take action and vote for change.

Since I asked the question, I think I’ll reply to your answer and clarify some things as well as raise new questions.
As far as voting goes, when party-aligned vote counters perpetuate election fraud, how can our votes matter? (One answer: let us NEVER go to electronic Diebold voting machines that are easily manipulated, have no oversight agency, and no paper receipts!)
As far as saving money goes, it’s a no-win solution for the saver. Not with this rate of inflation. In fact, blowing your money right now even on value-depreciating products makes more sense now than it will to time later. In other words, your money is worth more now, even if it’s earning interest in the bank, because 2% annual interest in the bank can’t overcome the current 1-2% MONTHLY inflation rate we are now seeing. So buy your new car now, pay your student loans now, and even buy your new clothes because imports from China are getting more expensive with the fall of the US dollar. Any leftovers? Get gold and silver.
Do not throw away your vote on the current one-party system we have. McCain will perpetuate overseas war, ruining our international reputation further as well as digging deeper into debt. Obama will perpetuate the nanny state by taxing and borrowing to support old and implement new entitlement programs that blow our money, real and imagined, because the govt is so damn inefficient. Oh and again, that will dig us into debt much like McCain.
How can it make sense spending taxpayers’ money and acting like it’s the govt’s money? The first middleman (govt) takes so much to support bloated bureaucracy. The no-bid contracts are the other middlemen. Figure they waste at least a third of it, the other third goes to their salaries. The final third gets us a shoddy product: the public “services”.
Finally the centralization of power in the federal govt spells doom for state’s rights and local municipalities being able to regulate themselves from the roots. The feds will tell you they’ll take care of everything from telling you how much money they’ll generously give back to you in the form of programs you do not need, to how many human and civil rights they’ll allow you (all the while giving their corporate bedfellows many MORE rights, which is called fascism btw).
My advice: vote for the Constitution party (Chuck Baldwin), or the Libertarians (Bob Barr), or even the Green Party (not Nader, it’s Cynthia McKinney now)
Third parties are not a waste of your vote. If anything, voting for the same crooked complacent power mongers in the GOP and Dems is throwing away your vote. It’s been this way for more than 100 years; how can you not see this?

Wait, but you said voting all together was pointless because its rigged anyway. So voting on an independant condidate is just as good as throwing your vote away, right? Unless of course its your ego your trying to feed. Let alone it seems you dont like anything about america, who runs the nation, how its run, or even how to manage the money… so why tread on it?
…just sayin

When the feds face a mob of hundreds of thousands mobbing together, voting and lobbying with their 2nd amendment rights, THEN we’ll see what can be rigged!
But the time for peaceful action is now.
Not all elections everywhere are rigged; but a significant and obvious portion of the federal elections are.
Food for thought, how many people does it take to win an election ?
Most people answer 50% +1 that’s wrong because that is based on 100% of the population voting.
70% eligible to vote ( excludes minors, felons, aliens )
35% +1
40% registered to vote ( approximately 60% of eligible) 20% +1
20% vote on election day (50% of registered voters) 10% +1
7% almost always vote Republican
7% almost always vote Democrat
6% swing vote ( those that decide elections )
The answer is 3% +1 is what it takes to decide the fate of an election.
That is where politicians live and die.
What you can do to make things better is support the platform agreed upon jointly by the biggest 3rd party candidates:
The Republican/Democrat duopoly has, for far too long, ignored the most important issues facing our nation. However, alternate candidates Chuck Baldwin, Cynthia McKinney, and Ralph Nader agree with Ron Paul on four key principles central to the health of our nation. These principles should be key in the considerations of every voter this November and in every election.
We Agree
Foreign Policy: The Iraq War must end as quickly as possible with removal of all our soldiers from the region….
Privacy: We must protect the privacy and civil liberties of all persons under US jurisdiction…
The National Debt: We believe that there should be no increase in the national debt…
The Federal Reserve: We seek a thorough investigation, evaluation and audit of the Federal Reserve System and its cozy relationships with the banking, corporate, and other financial institutions. The arbitrary power to create money and credit out of thin air behind closed doors for the benefit of commercial interests must be ended. There should be no taxpayer bailouts of corporations and no corporate subsidies. Corporations should be aggressively prosecuted for their crimes and frauds.
